The Center for Teaching and Research on Innovation at the FGV Direito SP is a multidisciplinary team of researchers that focuses on studying the challenges brought by new technologies on the fields of legal regulation and education. The coordinators, professors Marina Feferbaum and Alexandre Pacheco da Silva, chief a team of professionals that ranges from traditional law graduates, anthropology, sociology, computer science and innovation policy. Our goal is thus to offer the most comprehensive answer to questions that arise with the introduction of emergent technologies in various legal fields, both qualifying the public debate and reimagining what the legal education means in the 21th Century. Our current research interests cover: artificial intelligence and law; internet governance; fake news, dis-information and bots in the elections; teacher education in legal education; hate speech; encryption; human rights, especially digital human rights; innovation and technology; data protection; research methodology; blockchain, among others. In the last two years, our main research projects dealt with the applicability of artificial intelligence and new technologies in the legal professions, on one side, and with the differences between international regulations regimes on cryptography, hate speech and data protection at academic institutions on the other. The Center has also managed to innovate on teaching methods applied to undergraduate courses at FGV Direito SP based upon the inputs brought by our projects.
